Awake in London
I'm in London this week for the Awakening Conference at the Mermaid Theatre. After a weekend of sessions in the Mermaid Theatre the conference team and I are off to New York on Monday morning ready for next weekend's events there. We're touring twenty custom-made LED hearts that work in with the conference's logo that have been hung randomly around the theatre.
It's not ridiculously cold but I've got a feeling all that will change in Manhattan next week!

It's Cold
The year is just starting to heat up ...well for some of us.
This week sees Richard in London and then New York in near freezing conditions. Luckily he has a warm heart (or many) to keep him warm. Watch out for the news article about his trip. Look for the hearts.
I am heading off to Seoul next week to snuggle up to Cats for a bit as they start their Korean tour. It has been snowing in Seoul. Just snow in a weeks time too.
Once winter ends in the Northern Hemisphere it's full on with projects in many parts of Asia and the region, plus Australia ofcourse. Maybe I will have my own endless summer.... or do I prefer Winter/Summer/Winter/Summer/etc all in the space of a month?
Ah the sun has come out here....how nice.
Till later

Merry Christmas!
Just a quick one to say Merry Christmas to everyone who follows us... the whole team is back in Sydney for Christmas, but we're all jetting off pretty quickly afterwards so we're taking advantage of the time we have to do some planning for 2009 and beyond!
It's been a big year and we have some really big plans for next year which will see us being more competitive than ever in both Australia and overseas. Thanks to all our clients and best wishes to you and your families, friends and colleagues over the holiday season.
Oh and stay tuned to see our websites undergo a bit of a transformation in the next fortnight. Expect a heap more content and a few other surprises.
Until then, cheers!

Off again
Sitting here very jetlagged in the Hilton at Birmingham in the UK. We've just finished day two of bumping the Good Food Show in and have one day of rehearsals to go before the doors open on Wednesday morning. After 26 shows with Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver and friends we'll be on our way back to Australia on Sunday night... a very quick trip this time!

Around the clock
I'm back in Sydney after a couple of weeks holiday which concluded with three days at LDI - North America's massive lighting exhibition in Las Vegas. (It was all work, I swear!) Myself and Dan got a chance to check out some very cool new toys - some of which we're already in the process of bringing to Australia for some projects next year. A big thank you to all the Aussie contingent who we wined, dined, danced and wined some more with, as well as our US friends at ESP Vision, Vari*Lite and Martin who we all had a great time catching up with.
Barely a week later I'm back in Sydney, lighting a series of events at the Sydney Convention Centre - tonight we've transformed an entire exhibition hall with one of our clients into an enormous party under the Australian sun - quite literally - with a huge internally glowing sun hung over the heads of our 1400 guests.
In the coming weeks we're looking forward to the pre-Christmas rush with events all over Australia (I even get to go to Darwin), the UK and some more work in South Korea. It's going to be a busy time but we're all working on some really rewarding projects which is always a good thing.
Stop by the website in the next week - we'll be filling it up with a heap of new event photos from our recent jobs. Oh and good luck to everyone in this busy time of year...

PAUSE
Finally the pause button has been hit on the Asian tour of CATS.
I am in Busan, Korea, to operate the final two shows of this tour that wraps today. Little did Richard and I know or envisage back in March 2007 what CATS would end up becoming for us. It has at times consumed us.
Some of the facts and figures are:
-Over 300 performances
-Three countries. Korea (twice), Thailand, China
-Seventeen cities
-Sixty-four weeks of gigs. Shipping time between counties is extra.
On top of just doing CATS shows nightly:
-We transferred the show from its original HOG2 platform to GrandMA. For 3 weeks we were doing transfer of a day and then operating a show of a night.
-We were contracted to light the NEW Korean version of KATS. Again that meant thinking about 2 things at once !! English CATS and Korean KATS. It also meant that we got to meet David Hersey in New York which was awesome (meeting Mr Pilbrow was very cool too!!).
In summary its’ been great and bigger than what I or we imagined. And the fact that there’s more must mean we are doing it right !!
Until the PLAY button gets hit in April 2009 that’s it for CATS for a while.
Meowwwwwwwww
I’m off to have a cat nap….
